Panasonic Lumix L1

Panasonic Lumix L1

I just saw a thread today comparing the image quality between the E-P2 and the Leica Digilux 3 (rebranded Panasonic L1 with a different processing engine) and I thought I'd look back through my images taken with the L1. I really like the images taken with that camera and I'm going to take it on my next holiday together with the Olympus E-P3. I'm going to take note at the end of how often I used each camera and the quality of the images I got from both. Although the Panasonic is ONLY a 7.5MP camera I have been very satisfied with it in the past, especially developing the raw files using Silkypix. I think the Silkypix/Panasonic thing really works well.
I'll post some images from both and I'll let you be the judge of image quality.
The next few days the images here will be those from the L1. Maybe you'll like them, but then again, maybe you won't.

Vivitar 28 f2.8 OM Version Adapted to m4/3

Vivitar 28 f2.8 OM Version Adapted to m4/3

I'm not too sure about this Vivitar lens. I don't think I'm going to use it much. There are much better lenses out there. I'm going to have to give it another go I think. Maybe it's an user thing. The images look rather mushy to me. Maybe I should just shoot jpg files and see what the camera can do.

Another conversion with SFX2

Another conversion with SFX2

This is another conversion with SFX2 of an image I posted a few days ago. It's not bad but I think I prefer the original colour version. Some images work in B&W and some don't.
Comments welcome.

Converting to B&W

Converting to B&W

Just bought Nik Silver Efex Pro 2. Excellent piece of software. I believe it's the best conversion package out there right now for B&W. Mind you I haven't tried them all, but I don't need to go any further than this package. Presets and control over what effect you want.
Simply great.
This shot was taken using a Pentax SMC 35 f3.5 lens on an E-PL1. I can get some nice results but there are better lenses out there. There should be a gallery up soon with some more images from this lens.

Olympus OM 135 f3.5 II

Olympus OM 135 f3.5 II

Her's another one from the OM 135 f3.5. When I take some images using these legacy lenses the problem I have is remembering at what aperture I set the lens to. Now I tend to look at the bokeh. The clearer I can see the background, the lower the aperture.

Olympus OM 135 f3.5 I

Olympus OM 135 f3.5 I

I aquired another legacy lens on ebay the other week and just tried it out on a couple of orchids we have in the house. These were taken on the E-P2 on a tripod because at this focal length (270 on a m4/3 body) I wanted to see exactly what I would get out on a serious trip (if indeed I get a chance to do another one in the future).
As you can see, it's sharp. I think it's sharper than the normal zoom lenses I use.
Comments welcome.

Olympus mZD 75-300 Shoots the Moon

Olympus mZD 75-300 Shoots the Moon

There's a lot of talk on different forums on the web that the Olympus mZD 75-300 is not sharp and the Panasonic 100-300 beats it hands down. I personally can't agree with this and as you can see, this image is quite sharp (even though it is quite small). I have found the images from both lenses to be very good.
BTW, this image was shot on an E-P2 handheld. The mood was particularly clear on this evening. I just couldn't help myself. Just like when some clouds come over. I have to get my camera out and capture them for eternity.
